Dr Kamran Qureshi was invited to speak at the Open Research Symposium at the University of Warwick on 14 June 2025.
His presentation, titled Film and the Creative Arts in the Age of Open Research, examined how open research practices intersect with creative disciplines, particularly within film and media. Drawing on his dual career as a film and television director and academic, Dr Qureshi discussed the relevance of practice-based methodologies, data transparency, and interdisciplinary approaches to research. He highlighted the importance of accessible knowledge and shared insights on building research databases, challenges in data sharing in the humanities, and the evolving nature of scholarly communication in creative fields. The symposium brought together researchers from across disciplines to explore openness in research.
