PTV Drama and Film Academy recently hosted a hybrid lecture and Q&A session, bringing together producers from across the country. Topics included international filmmaking, Hollywood and British cinema, women in British cinema, and research-led approaches to fiction feature filmmaking.
Environmental responsibility and sustainability were central themes, with discussions on the BAFTA Albert Programme, Green Screen Environmental Programme, and sustainable production practices aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The session, delivered by Dr Kamran Qureshi alongside Dr Iram Qureshi, focused on key global developments in filmmaking and drama production. Participants also engaged with the Fictsearch Framework and insights from the books Wendy Toye and Fiction Feature Filmmaking: Research & Practice in Screenwriting, Production, Distribution and Exhibition. The session concluded with an interactive exchange with PTV producers, highlighting a shared commitment to innovative storytelling, sustainable practices, and the future of responsible film and drama production. The session was attended in person in Karachi and joined virtually by PTV centres in Quetta, Peshawar, Islamabad, Multan, Kashmir, and Lahore.
